I write Motes as someone who has returned to childhood and leaned specifically into a lot of these feelings. She is a good girl, but she has tantrums because that is a defining feature of childhood, yes, but also because it feels good to know that her family will still be there after. She gets sick, even though she does not need to, because there is love in being cared for. She gets in trouble at times because even punishment leaves room for love like the post mentions. She remembers her mother fondly for specifically this, for the way she reinforces her love around such things. Motes Played is not about this, but all of these things do come up, because all of these things are important.
