There was also a wooden tool in my house whose purpose I did not understand but eventually discovered (actually because a headmate Just Knew Somehow) it's a waffle cone tool. Previous weird guesses that had not entirely made sense were "misshapen shoe shaper" and "cooking thing to punch holes into something because surely some foods need holes punched into them?"
