i want everyone to know here that I'm a Lestat's-Oedipus-Complex truther, I DO think Antoinette in the show is a reflection of this. I think she matches pretty well to Gabrielle's description (especially once she starts wearing a suit) and I think Lestat is into her, in part, because of that. <3

I'm pretty sure it's because they gender swapped her character from someone in the later books but I can accept this argument too
Antoine is also a character in the original IWTV book, but in that book he's described as a young man with dark hair, and generally he looks pretty similar to Book!Louis and to Nicki.
I think the switch to making her an older blonde woman feels kinda intentional is all. He's also much more involved with her than Book!Lestat was with Antoine. It's a pretty big divergence.
He comes back pretty substantially in Prince Lestat! I do hope we get Gabrielle in the show though and she's not cis because I re-read The Vampire Lestat in 2022 and that is not a cis person.
