Now I don't know much about the tech but between madtodon, crypto, metaverse, and that weird ghastly thiel joint Urbit, Web 3 is just like, what if the internet had feudalism right? The main feature of the tech is that rather than the platform owning it, a bunch of landlords that can buy and sell chunks of the ecosystem do? All the other advantages (and the hilariously new problems) are kind of incidental to the main goal, which is that, right?

I think most people have the sentiment right when they call all that technofeudalism, but as Morozov argues here, calling it feudalism lets capitalism off the hook too much.
