I guess there's no need to ask why commander is the most popular format in magic or at least wildly supported, even though it looks incredibly tedious but I do like that the game is experimenting with yugioh-esque extra deck mechanics in incredibly broken ways.
Relatedly, it's funny and good that even after 30 years of design even flirting with the concept of the extra deck necessitated a ban in the oldest and most openly broken format that exists.
