Like what do you mean “They crushed each other while trying to get food.” Do you really think that’s an excuse?
Firstly, they’re obviously lying. They are constantly lying and they changed their story. But the fact that this is a lie means that they want people to feel like people are deplorable for being hungry. It’s really a new low to take what happened and blame it on people who are dying of starvation. Especially since everything I have heard from people living closer to the situation show that Palestinians have been doing everything they can to support each other. Everyone is treated as family and even kids are giving away their only toys to help others. So not only do you lie, you lie about the one thing that could never be true.
And even if they weren’t lying, that’s not any better. Being driven to desperation by hunger and sickness isn’t a morally corrupt thing. It’s a tragedy.
I know I am preaching to the choir here but everyday I find that I am even angrier than I’ve ever been. It’s become very overwhelming and I’m doing this to ground myself. This is my way of making sure I don’t become numb and just look away. I can’t look away from the suffering of my people, my family. And no one else should.
