was in a random dungeon in the 1e game.
things that happened:

  • wandered in the woods, found a strange hole and went down it

  • in the hole was a pool. my companion and i bathed in the pool, thinking it would be magical. it was.

  • it sapped our INT. I have 2 INT now.

  • We wandered some more, found some hills, stepped wrong and we're in a dungeon now.

  • we're in a dungeon now.

  • there's a giant, bathing in a pool. He promises some magic items if we can get him out.

  • we dungeoneer through, we find a room with a giant toad, because the GM's book lacks the page that has the level 1 monsters. so its all level 2 monsters.

  • i didn't look edible, because i'm armored and pointy

  • my companion looked edible

  • my companion had 2 hp.

  • i am alone on this bitch of an earth (greyhawk)

  • Found a box of silver and platinum. Would need to filter the silver and platinum. There was a giant toad in the room. It's an inconvenient treasure, fascinating. like 2k of gold, a wholeass level up, but I couldn't bring it out.

  • Several illusory walls. I fell down an illusory floor. Always check the walls.

  • glaive-guisarm my beloved. "I hook open the door, standing 10 feet away" saved me from a spike trap.

  • I find a hexagonal shaped room that's 4700sqft big. that's a big fucking room. apparently, if the GM kept rolling 15+ the room would only get bigger.

  • I found an elevator. It only went down. It opens to a cave.

  • I found a guy bathing in a pool. he says the elevator resets every 3 days.

  • We share rations for 3 days.

  • I take the elevator. It went down.

  • I camp for 3 days.

  • The elevator goes up...!

  • It opens to a dead end.

  • I poke the wall. It's another secret wall.

  • It was trapped.

  • but i avoided it, because i hook open every door.

  • I eventually find a trap door that leads to the tower's roof

  • I scale down it, and follow the guy I found in the dungeon back to his town

  • I pay 20 gold for the various services I'd need to get back to the city of Traft

  • i didn't even get enough gold to level up

good sessh.

Having done randomly generated using BX encounter tables, they’ve accidentally cut the fat and gotten to the good stuff by skipping level one. Level one is a lot of army formations worth of 1hd creatures sitting on top of lead shavings. Level two is where enemies start coming in no. appearings with a reasonable amount of action economy compared to a modern table size
