on the one hand: i love high-res, clean versions of the shows i want to keep in perpetuity

on the other hand: i also love the stupid little bumpers and crap that pop up when you get a show scraped from tv

this is why i want to figure out a way to hook my hard drive up to my crt!! i wanna watch those old fansubs the way they were MEANT to be viewed: all fuzzy and shit

this is especially delightful when it reveals that shows i had no idea were contemporaries were airing at not only the same time but on the same network (extra points when one is Good & one is Bad, for whatever given values of those things), or when you're watching a 2009-ass show & another couple 2009-ass shows pop up & you get to be like OH MY GOD IT WAS SOOO 2009 WHEN THIS CAME OUT

I am out of physical space in the case I currently use, and decommissioning functional drives just seems wrong. So once I run out of the ~21TB currently allocated (8+16), I either need to move everything over to my old case designed for hot-swapping (and replace four of the fans) or invest in high speed external mass storage housing.

And I don't really want to do either of those? But she hungers.

Actually relevant to bumpers and the like, I don't know where he's posting these days, but Moe Fwacky does a lot of archiving of old TV via found VHS.
