an extremely cyberpunk (to me) idea that (i think) existed more widely in the 90s and we’ve lost is infoshops. like even just the name feels cyberpunk

we saw a really thorough article recently about how Cubans got internet content during the embargo, through a weekly bundle of downloads called "the packet". they would go to local shops and get it copied onto a USB stick. we tried looking for the article again just now and couldn't find it, ah well (though there's a ton of other information about the practice).
