The fundamental problem of all these terms in public discourse is that the people who most need to understand and internalize the problems they describe - the unreflective ones who send death threats - are not going to acknowledge that their behavior is a problem until someone rubs their nose in it.

And at the other end, people who are anxious or shy will freak out that what they're doing by forming a mild connection with a stranger over a public post is capital-B Bad and self-isolate harder.

Who, for context, is my neighbor. And friend. Like he lives next door I could just walk into his house and call him a nerd RIGHT NOW.
