this is, more or less, the response i give to people who ask why i'm selling my anti-capitalist game for a "profit" and not giving it away for free. i think this is also why so many think capitalism could be reformed if only we fixed the problem of individual greed, it's taking "profit" to be the underlying issue when in fact it's only a symptom of what socialists identify as the real problem, exploitation, which is structurally baked into the system

caveat being that even if you don't employ anyone else's labor directly, under this system you're still probably relying on exploitation at the edges of production, e.g. the tools you're using were probably made with exploited labor
