I think Borges is correct in principle when he posits true immortality as a curse, but I think he's absolutely wrong that someone would get bored of life within a couple thousand years. I would bet a considerable sum that it would take me five thousand years minimum to get sick of living if my body remained in decent condition, and I would probably make it to ten if people kept making music and food

I imagine being an artificial lifeform, studying mathematics and physics, and seeing society slowly improve like a modded minecraft playthrough working through the various tech stages, and being a part of it.

Yeah, like... I don't see the issue. As long as there's people, there's always something to do. When there's not people, it'd be a lot more maddening, but you can prepare for that too. You've got all the time in the world.
