Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World Review

Watching this I was immediately struck by its resemblance to Gundam of all things. Both of them have this particular dual focus on the tactile moment-to-moment experience of living in a war and the way that affects the humans who experience that life. They're crunchy and technical but they always bring that back around to the emotional experience. It's a fantastic framing for a war story, and it works just as well for people on a ship at sea in the early 1800s as it does for the White Base in space in UC0079.
