I love that the guy who directed that game’s DLC used to make wild shit like this (warning for flashing lights): https://youtu.be/Ic5VeFZASkc
Trust me Taro is still making that sort of content just doing it in between his actual responsibilities. Another rhythm game/bullet hell game called NOISZ STARLIVHT that he works on recently got a huge story patch and there's a lot of his ideas throughout.
the best part about Mawaru Gold is that was part of a sightreading tournament, so players had to play it as well as they could without ever having seen the chart before - the vod is up on taro's channel too and it's an absolute delight https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIIusW3zBBc
Never has the phrase "midpoint exam" inspired such terror in me, and I wasn't even playing.
every few months you post an extremely specific genre of video that i cannot help but watch and wonder "how in god's name"
I extremely respect ADOFAI mapmakers but good lord that game is top to bottom about the reading difficulty1, Groove Coaster has some similar unpredictability but it's not even close.
parsing the visuals into a sequence of inputs/body movements
I almost turned the video off at the halfway point because I was confident I had seen Maximum Weird, but, no.
I admire the ADOFAI and Rhythm Doctor mapmakers sticking to the original maps' principle of mostly using gimmicks you can know about ahead of time, but people get increasingly creative with the definitions of "can know about" and "ahead of time"
god i love this shit. this shit is fan fuckin' tastic. watching the play space expand but also they never break any of the rules they set up to that point
I don't think I've ever had a rhythm game give me borderline motion sickness haha. What in the world
