me and a friend were trying to explain legend of the galactic heroes to someone the other day and. i have no idea how to explain that show to someone that doesn’t sound totally unappealing to anyone but the biggest history nerds. and sometimes not even then

it's most people's only reference point for interesting political dramas...
I watched the first episode with friends and tbh the thing it reminded me most of was Gettysburg or Gods and Generals. Just lots of cutaways to Rear Admiral Smith and the 456th space legion, and here's Commodore Jones of the 654th space maniple, and
It's revered as a classic by a lot of people whose opinions I respect so I'll give it another try at some point.
it is definitely a history/war nerd thing for sure. but it has a ton of interesting politics and character studies, so i think there’s something for other ppl too
