i rly love rss but i use the old reader and its. fine. but im constantly wondering if i could do better. probably someday i'll try to figure out how to make my own program for it, but i've been brainstorming what i want out of it

  • light/compact (cli? that might make it harder for images tho…)
  • runs in the background
  • downloads feeds for offline reading
  • configurable alerts and such
  • folders!!!
  • a long feed might be nice but the one on the old reader is too short to really make a difference

I'm not sure if you've looked into FreshRSS before, but it's a self hosted option that I think will touch on what you're looking for? Or, at the least, has folders, I'm pretty sure is pretty light, and you can get it to auto pull things. Accessing it away from home can be a bit of a pain though. I wrote about it here if you're interested in learning more, but there's also a lot of good resources online about it: https://tanzi-media.com/Blogs/Technology/Instructional/FreshRSS

Apologies because my site isn't fully optimized for Mobile yet.
