Finding out that "metroidvania" has become a japanese loan word instantaneously radicalized me into calling them "search action" games from now on. It's too late to undo the damage we've caused but it's never too early to begin healing.

探索型アクション is such a giant and verbose term, 8 syllables
Doesn't surprise me some there are favoring metroidvania or metrovania (honestly metrovania is such an improvement already, 4~5 syllables that chain so well)
Still would be good to have something that actually describes the genre
metrovania would be good as an alternate for open world city games like gta
I mean, at least people actually use and apply the term consistently to games that are like metroid/sotn.
