christ, the numbers from Seattle's annual Point in Time count (which they did skip last year, tbf) are in, and they are bleak:

• The PIT count found 16,385 individuals living homeless in King County.
• This represents a 23% increase (meaning about 3000 additional individuals) compared to the last PIT count conducted in 2022.
• Of those counted, 60% were unsheltered (living outside or in places not meant for human habitation). This also represented an increase compared to 2022, when 57% of those counted were unsheltered.
• These numbers are believed to be an undercount. By contrast, data from the Washington State Department of Commerce estimated 53,000 people experienced homelessness in 2022.

jesus, sleeping in your car counts as sheltered? christ almighty

yeah it's basically like the whole of seattle & king counties don't give a fuck about keeping people alive. when it's winter you just gotta rough it. everywhere else that has that much exposure risk helps (or at least doesn't hinder) your attempts to survive the elements
