i get it... we all have stuff we don't like doing around the house, people weren't meant to be ultra-independent and hyper-functional at all times, we probably all have The Pile™ of something. this is where i come in (if you so desire)

THE RUNDOWN:

  • Can do the typical cleaning/housework (i.e: vacuuming, dusting, mopping, laundry, etc.) but larger and more-involved tasks (like a "move-out clean" or deep cleaning from pet damage) are a little outside of my scope currently. I bring my own equipment and can travel by car anywhere within a reasonable distance of Seattle.
  • Cost is $35 per hour. However, I also live in the area and understand that it is Unfortunately Expensive, and I work on a sliding-scale for those whose budgets don't typically allow them to have some cleaning done.
  • I do my own scheduling and can work outside of the typical 8am-5pm cleaner timeframe if your schedule doesn't allow for it. Cleaning can be a one-time session or set up on a regular schedule.
  • I test regularly for covid, and I can test before each visit and provide results upon request. I'll also be wearing an N95 mask, as I do for daily use.
  • I am (relatively) normal and nice :)

if you're interested, fill out this form right here and i'll be in touch. okay bye!!!!

$25/hour is incredibly cheap for the Seattle area. Minimum wage is $20/hour, and you're self-employed, paying your own taxes, and buying your own equipment/supplies. A covid test alone costs like $10! The Molly Maids etc in the area tend to charge like $150/hour for a team of 2 people.

this is quite helpful tbh. i'm (obvi) new to this and figured out my rate estimates by asking people i knew in different areas how much they were paid, and i hadn't even thought about taxes given that i don't even have proper invoicing set up at this point lol. tyvm

Just stating this more clearly about the taxes: there's a self employment tax, which normally your employer would pay as part of their payroll that the workers never see, but since those taxes need to be collected regardless, they effectively get charged to you as your own employer. It's the other half of the social security and Medicare taxes, the first half being what you normally see deducted from your paycheck. So you will be paying more in tax than you would as an employee.

Apologies if you knew about this, but it's not obvious to most newly self-employed people so I figured I should state it clearly in case you needed it.

Yeah the usual I've paid before has been like 200$-ish for a team of 3 once a month and they usually took an hour. I usually tipped 60 on top of that.

I hired a person a friend recommended when I moved out and I paid them ~50 an hour for a move out deep clean over 1200 sqft and that was about 4 hours of work, also 200$.

Not sure about general hourly rates, but in Seattle I've gone with the rule of thumb that it's about 200$ for 1200 sqft-ish. Discounts usually apply when you schedule monthly too.

no worries!! also I know a tech couple who pays a cleaning service that's 2 cleaners once a week cleans their 3 bedroom house for $500 each time, if that helps calibrate pricing

I was looking for this post a while back and could not find it. Recommending adding several more tags, otherwise things are impossible to find on cohost: #cleaning #housecleaning #for hire #services for hire
