fascinating to me that the next paradigm of social media seems to be not “how will it scale” but “how NOT to scale; that is how can these networks avoid the problems of attempting to make a smaller community when ppl naturally want to join where all their friends are

mastodon and cohost come to radically different conclusions on how to do this but they still both contain the germ of that philosophy, and im super interested to see if/how it pans out
