sherlock holmes (1980 TV whitehead!holmes), holmes watson, kidfic, 17k - holmes has perfect unconventional thoughts on childrearing, watson almost denies himself happiness by not realizing another way is possible. one of the best confession scenes ever. a comfort reread

October Fic Recs

(Still trying to figure out what I want to use this for, but trying to Be The Content I Want To See In The World. If we're lucky I'll keep this up.)

My ao3 history for just October is over 15 pages (is that a lot or not that much comparatively? I always wonder at other people's reading habits...), but here are a few standouts. In order from shortest to longest. All Star Wars cuz I guess that's what I do now.

New Lands for the Living by SassySnowperson
star wars ot/sequels, poe/luke, 50k - tagged "Slow Burn, (with a fast marriage)" it's a time travel fix-it where Poe is sent back in time to try to avert disaster and ends up on Tatooine where he meets 18-year-old Luke, who promptly marries him to get him identity papers so he doesn't get taken by slavers, so now there are two Skywalkers in the rebellion.

star wars mandalorian, din/boba, 765k, rated E, WIP (1 chapter from the end) - jokey summary in the author's note is "Me, an idiot: I want to write a fic about Din rebuilding Mandalore! Also me, just, incomparably stupid: Okay, but only in the context of a long-term, slowburn BDSM relationship with Boba Fett." - this fic is three quarters of a million words and it has consumed me for the last several weeks. I read the entire thing in literally two days (so much for doing anything else that weekend) and have been slowly poking away at a reread because my brain is full of nothing else. The plotty action-y parts and the BDSM parts both feel like they serve the same story, if that makes sense, and the Tatooine worldbuilding is so fascinating.
