Just got out of meeting where someone mentioned a linkedin learning feature where you can choose jobs at your current employer and it'll tell you what skills you need to get them and give you course recommendations, which is like, cool on the surface, but

the thing that makes this all a nightmare for me is Sure, if all of your experience are things linkedin understands, that could work, but

If I ever want to get a job which uses the skills I use at my current job... With this system I will have to put in extra effort prove to MICROSOFT that I know how to do, for example, layout design which I have over a decade of experience with now but which has been like a footnote in my job description for the last 6 years - before even getting to the point of being able to let my work speak for itself to a human evaluating candidates...

And this is of course just one tiny step away from being part of Performance Evaluation to decide if we get to keep our current jobs/pay too, right? I hate the future so much

oh man this sucks so much. I very wish I had known the future would mostly be, "hey if you don't have all these skills you've learned in your career documented strictly on paper with the appropriate job title you may as well not have them as far as Corporate is concerned" because uhhh I probably would have either not counted on my work history to be a record of Things I Can Do or I would have spent less time gleefully taking on new responsibilities to learn things. Not sure which is worse tbh!!
