Great news folks the new Raspberry Pi will "only send metadata to the cloud"
[edit: I know it's not as big a deal as it sounds bc the AI part is in a like, recommended software application, but this post still stands bc the current state of computer makes me feel crazy, e.g. "detailed employee analysis" and "preserves privacy" being in the same sentence, combined with "only sends metadata to the cloud" as part of something that someone considers attractive marketing copy]

ah great so not only will they not be available they'll also be spying on you

EDIT: this claim turns out to have been overblown, the component collecting metadata is software

it's a specialized coprocessor for the specific types of numbers usually used in neural stuff. they use some really small floating-point number standards in neural nets, all these coprocessors do is do some number crunching on a lot of data at once (like a GPU) but on those different number standards. technically not actually even specifically an "AI processor" much the same as the actual core of your GPU isn't specifically a "Graphics processor", though the "AI processor" is even more nebulous of a marketing term cus there isn't like... an eye input or something, on an "AI processor", but GPU cores are nearly always paired with display-specific non-programmible logic and stuff

hope this help
