256GB SD card, translucent faceplate, 3000mAh battery - I really wanna do it but IDK if it'd be worth it considering my iPod is working fine as-is

I've done this with three iPods! It's cool as hell! That 3000mAh battery lasts FOREVER, and you can take that old teeny tiny iPod hard drive and chuck it into the lake!
(Note: Don't actually chuck a hard drive, however small, into a lake)

Just keep in mind if you have a 6th gen iPod Classic it's going to be a smidge harder to open up because BOY HOWDY those metal faceplates really don't want to let go.

It's not that bad if you have the right tools (several thin metal spudgers and a 1" putty knife with the edge sharpened), follow the ifixit or DankPods guide on exactly where you're supposed to insert them to hit the clips, and make sure you push the spudgers straight down towards the back don't pry up on the faceplate.

They do get a bit more sluggish and buggy with big storage, even if it's on SD.

But if you're already in the itunes ecosystem, and you like the OF, that's the other big issues I had with it. Also the third party shells never fit perfectly but it'll probably be fine enough.
