i still miss wobbly windows sometimes
then i turn them on for five minutes and realise: no,
tfw you install ubuntu on the Eeepy because you (foolishly) assume it might be a better time than the distro that came with it
I remember when using this version I set up a painting of my fursona as the terminal background
honestly peak of home computing
I remember showing my dad The Cube years ago and we were just like "this is the future of computing"
Oops, I decided to touch CompizConfig and Wayland immediately ate shit. #TheFullLinuxExperience
i will forever be sad about losing wobbly windows. it was a reminder that computers could be fun. also unity 8 could have been good, shame about canonical getting really weird about mir
I want it to play a sound like this when you move a wobbly window https://youtu.be/kmQr2k7RhIc
god I hated Wobbly Windows, I was very adept at turning them off in a new installation
but I sincerely miss The Cube. I feel like I've never known how to organize my virtual desktops since The Cube went away
hello my old Compaq netbook from the early 2010s
Dude this is EXACTLY when I got into Linux and I loved the absurd early compositing stuff. My first distro was Kubuntu 5.10 which I dropped on my first computer, an HP pavilion with (I believe) a P2 based Celeron with 512 MB of RAM, which I then kept running in tandem with my P3 Dell running XP via a KVM switch so I didn't have to dual boot. I was in 8th grade and when I showed my new high school friends from the computer lab they thought I was fully insane.
Scrapped it all the next Christmas when I got an Athalon dual core, wish I'd kept it.
Spending 4 hours trying different projects that all fail to emulate the OSX Dock in some functionally significant way
