there's light car-posting going on here today

so im gonna take the opportunity to display how Kia's EV6 (shown top row) and Hyundai's Ioniq 5 (bottom row) just absolutely shit on everything in the car market rn, especially the EV market, in terms of automotive design

i don't have a long thread or anything i just think those two cars are fucking gorgeous and wanted people to look at em'

I have actually tested one of these

and I'm pleased to announce I actually loved it. It's one of my favorite EVs on the market, if not my overall favorite! I reviewed it for Slashgear last year, actually!

i saw an EV6 on the road for the first time the other day and just literally froze in place. the GT-Line model having the trail lights connect to the floorwell under the doors is just an absolute mastercraft of design.

It's their first car that's started to incorporate the language established in that one super cyberpunk-ass prototype they showed a year or two ago, it's gorgeous. The interior is wild, too. The dashboard is just a super-wide set of screens.

the ioniq 5 was actually one of the ones on kata and my Short List but got ruled out because (a) you kinda can't buy them (b) EVs are so fucking expensive still what the hell (the mazda 6 was $17k less than the ioniq we were looking at)

yeah it's pretty brutal. we use street parking so we can't even realistically have one but even then it's like... literally 4x what our current car cost, even with tax incentives. :(

the Ioniq 5 looks so damn good imo, even though i'm not usually one for those Angles - i've heard their EVs wipe the floor with pretty much everything else in terms of range too

I hate the recessed door handles, it's the only problem I have with the ioniq (also as mentioned, they are nowhere to be found except apparently for the one guy who has one in my building)
