the more i look into coffee the less appealing it is lmaooo i cannot imagine needing to spend hundreds of dollars to make seed water taste like something that isn't just a pathway to deliver caffeine into the body. we already had that, it's called TEA!!!!! and you literally cannot fuck up tea, or you can very easily rectify any problems with simple techniques, but with coffee you could read a list as long as the Bible of just the number of things that makes your coffee better or worse or blablabla ugh aaa

i'm intrigued by this take. i've never spent hundreds of dollars on coffee. i get a container of coffee and boil some of it on the stove for 10 minutes and then strain out the grounds. i do kinda prefer tea though just because coffee can fuck up my sleep/nervous system for the whole rest of the day and with tea i can balance it out a little better.

it's probably just my internet poisoned interpretation of what makes "good" coffee a la internet strangers. like, i don't really enjoy regular drip coffee, because it often tastes bitter and weird to me, while i can make tea that i can drink black with no extras. it's apples vs oranges, but i think my take away is that high tier tea basically costs as much as your leaves and a kettle and maybe a thermometer, but with coffee you need like, actual equipment to get something that's Real Good™ (at least i have been lead to believe, and from like seeing restaurants and people showing off their coffee equipment and stuff)
this is the most bougie opinion i have but i didn't really expect anyone to read it or care tbh

A French press, a thermometer, and a hand-cranked burr grinder can be gotten for much less than even one hundred, and that's basically all you need to get hundreds of milligrams of good-tasting caffeine!

…which is one of two main upsides to coffee, the other being that some people just prefer the flavour!
