opinions my own & do not reflect those of my employer ;3

  • I frequently use my desktop computer by putting wireless keyboard in my lap so I can sit up straight while having my chair and monitor pretty low

  • Work thinkpad (x13 - 1.29kg) happens to be almost exactly the same width and weight as my wireless keyboard (tex shura - 1 kg plus btle module and two batteries which weigh. some small amount)

  • I;m a fre*k who likes to use thinkpad while in meetings by tilting the display nearly flat and putting it on my lap fully under the desk so I can type notes while not looking at the screen [rotating my chair sideways to see the screen when I need to] because it let me have more desk space in crowded in-person meetings and the habit never went away

because of all of this I forgot where my laptop is because it's in my lap and it felt like my keyboard and my brain did not connect that I was typing on the keyboard and it wasn't in my lap 👍

right, hhkb is very expensive for what it is and the lack of arrow keys was very disruptive for me (though i did eventually get used to the fn binds). the biggest issue with the studio for me is that the touch strips on the side - a major selling point of that keyboard - are way too easy to accidentally activate while using the keyboard normally, whether on a desk or on a lap. it's just a very bloated product that isnt very well thought out, and the fact that it doesnt even have the legendary Topre switches is another point against it. like, why bother?
the shura on the other hand has been fantastic, the one thing i wish i could change is a switch to 2.4ghz instead of bluetooth since i dont find bluetooth to be exceptionally reliable...but as it turns out, tex are working on a new model that will include exactly that, so we'll see :)
