oh heck yeah, i feel like shit today and this is a wonderful little surprise
i'm so glad every time i post something and people say it brightened their day. i'm glad i could help!
This is the kind of stuff I would LOVE to be doing if I wasn't disabled, so your videos scratch the part of my brain that wants to bring home all the e-waste and just take it apart and see wtf it does and how it's put together. I restrict myself to sbc projects because even if I piddle around with them for months at a time it will eventually be functional at something.
dang that computer's got one heck of a good-lookin' backside
Oh, Coinstar. I do recall seeing something like that at a UK supermarket once. I don't think it was working, but, y'know, fun, yet useless fact. Yes, Coinstar does operate in the UK too. Why? Who knows.
That does explain why they got CE certified. I was wondering why a US-only computer would have that.
Coinstar is wild because you put your money in, they take 12% off the top for the privilege, and give you a little slip you have to take to a cashier somewhere else in the store so you can get your money back. They break all the time and are a massive pain in the ass for the workers in those stores. They recently added screens to the top of them that play adver-tainment videos on a roughly 10 minute loop. I'm not surprised they don't exist in Europe.
No ill will towards this little guy, though. He seems nice.
I enjoy your videos about these cute li'l computers but I can't remember leaving a Youtube comment before so I hope you like the one I left this time.
Just wanted to say that the video was a great watch, nice to see that the port swap was doable 😄
I wonder if the GPIO/DIO port digs deep enough to get an ISA bus going, considering that TheRasteri built a TPM to ISA adapter.
Something about framing these as "little guys" messes with my perception a bit. Like, on the one hand, swapping in a DVI connector is a really interesting idea and I was genuinely fascinated to learn if it would work. But on the other hand, the computer in question was described as a "little guy," so I'm also anxiously awaiting news on if its surgery has gone well.
i love watching the early access releases off patreon first, then watching these again once they officially come out. video so nice i watched it twice! also seconding the other commenter who was having a bad day, your videos always delight and cheer me up!
