Sorry mate, Twitter killing Tweetbot's API access is not going to make me use Twitter (the app) more
Also very stupid that they did it like a week after my yearly Tweetbot subscription renewed, but Tapbots deserve my money anyway

they killed third-party API access????? holy shit being a billionaire means buying a lot of bullets to shoot yourself in the foot with
there's SOME third party stuff that still works so my hope is that this is just some unintended thing but even if it is, is there anyone left there to fix it lmao
Not a very positive comment but: If ALL the third party stuff went down I would assume it was some kind of error. But if only the third party clients went down while third party feature tooling stayed up, that implies conscious intent. (I've also seen people float that anecdotally the tools they've seen stay up are the ones that are actively paying Twitter for access.)
Tweetbot is also paying Twitter for access, as that's required for API v2 features.
i am incandescently pissed about this tbh, especially coming after they just changed the official client to always throw you back into the "for you" timeline whenever you switch accounts. i keep one of my accts on the chronological/latest timeline for a REASON, damn it
Even if this comes back, there’s one very important piece of damage that’s been done: they broke my habit loop for long enough to prompt me to remove it from the quick bar on my phone, and having done that, I put a fediverse client on there instead. And just like that, my default is switched
That habit loop is awful... I made a conscious decision to get off Twitter and embrace Cohost a few months ago when everything first started going downhill and I'm much happier for it
i actually didn't know ivory was a tapbots product and tbh GOOD
