one of my favourite bottomless arguments about avatar: the last airbender is the way that bloodbending is treated as a special moral ill. Like the actual story needs of it make complete sense, and all but for a show credited with such deliberate consideration of its moral frameworks, even the ones I disagree with, it's funny the one they decided to say is 'just plainy evil' is the blood-related one you can do once a month during a special time that we learn about because of women using it.
STOP. YOU ARE ABOUT TO TRY AND EXPLAIN WHAT YOU THINK IS OBVIOUS TO THE OP. DO NOT BOTHER.
I don’t see how blood-bending is really all that different from energy-bending, especially after Amon in Korra. Why is Aang allowed to take away some people’s bending but it’s wrong for Katarra to ever blood-bend? Because Aang is the Avatar? We know the Avatar isn’t perfect! Yang-chen fucked things up for the Water Avatar after her! So why is Aang always in the right for taking away someone’s bending? Surely, blood-bending could be getting used alongside metal-bending by the Republic City Police (acab but my point here is that there’s utility and ways to use blood-bending that line up with the same reasons Aang chooses to energy-bend).
Also I totally missed the menstrual cycle parallels til reading your post lmao.
