i just realized last night I had a dream i had to wrestle keith lee and i was feeling bad because i was not prepared at all for it

@wadbot's random level picks rely on a precomputed index of all the files in the idgames archive. Every month or so I update my local mirror of that archive and run WADbot's "update DB" script which scans the new ZIP files, finds all the levels¹ in each, and adds them to the index.

I updated the index just now, and the total count of legit² levels is currently at 59,997.

Of course, this doesn't include the probably thousands of levels that:

• were never uploaded anywhere
• perished with the CompuServe archive
• are/were only available as forum attachments, eg on Doomworld
• are/were only available on some file hosting site like megaupload (if any of yours are in this category, please put them on a more reliable host somewhere!!)

I would guess that the total number of levels in those categories number at least 10% of the size of the ~60k on the idgames archive. So maybe at some point recently or soon we crossed the 66,666 levels mark. Congrats, everyone.

1. Index entries are levels, not WADs; if it were the latter, then eg a 32-level megaWAD would be just as likely to be chosen as a single-level WAD, and thus the more numerous contents of the former would be less likely to get picked, which would be a shame because multi-level sets are a huge % of the community's best work.

2. This excludes two troll WADs that include 30k and 100k identical empty maps each.
