was kinda wild seeing the gut criticisms of the zelda game not letting her have a sword (making me thing it was like. idk a rebuilding sim with no monsters) and then actually watching the trailer where she can just?? summon monsters at will? and rocks and cannons and bombs and flaming egg things?? and theres even boss battles? AND ALSO IT LOOKS LIKE SHE BROKE OUT OF PRISON? She's wearing the hood cause her own guards are after her?? Impa is there?

i'm definitely glad i sat on my knee-jerk reaction of "Eiji Aonuma hates women"

however. that being said.

folks, if i didn't know any better, i'd say Eiji Aonuma doesn't think too highly of women

#vi's pals #likeeee idk this whole game kinda sorta feels like it was a completely different non zelda game they handed off to Aonuma and his team to kill two birds with one stone re: meeting fan demand for another top-down Zelda *and* have Zelda be playable #after some of the interviews he's had i find it *incredibly* hard to believe that he came up with this game concept himself #this is practically the polar opposite of the type of game he's gone on record saying he wants the series to be moving forward #idk tho. maybe i'm just hella jaded and am reading him in extremely poor faith

#I think I'm also a little immunized bc in my brain this isn't a 'legend of Zelda' game (aka a 'Link' game) it is a 'Zelda game'#if that makes sense? Like how there's Mario games and DK games and Yoshi games.. all platformers but different mechanics and vibes and niches #doesn't mean that there isn't sexism based laziness behind it I do kinda expect it's marketing to be weak and perhaps it's gameplay only like 3/4 realized and hindered by open worldness/sandbox elements #I don't rly think it looks like 'zelda for babies' tho like peach game #not yet anyway I guess.
