The internet is fundamentally just an idea, a set of protocols, implemented in the form of a billion computers. It's just as much ours as it is theirs.

tailwind is probably the worst css framework i've ever seen

it's not even a fucking framework

it's literally "hey, what if you wrote style tags into class tags instead"

that's all it fucking is, hey, relearn css but worse, fuck you

"it's so much smaller than bootstrap"

so is just writing only the css you need if you're gonna do that?????????

It's even worse than that. Bootstrap 5.3.1 is actually ~50% smaller than Tailwind. The default Tailwind configuration comes with 36.4KB minified and g-zipped. Compared to Bootstrap at 22.1KB , Tailwind is 14.3KB heavier.

Don't get me wrong, Tailwind has its place (cohost is built with Tailwind, and I believe this was a good choice), but Bootstrap is the reigning champion of websites that Just Work. Not every website needs to have an extremely distinct and intricate style [most should Not].

I somewhat loathe web development, but if you want to make something that laypeople can interact with, it's basically inevitable. Bootstrap is wonderful because it allows me to very quickly throw together a competent-looking web interface for something and know that it will just work on every device and with every accessiblity tool.

oh god I was looking at the minimal package, that's ...

sorry I think that puts me back in the camp of "tailwind has no valuable use" personally, just... just write the css, just writing damn style tags will be more effective even
