I think it's a sign that Mozilla has given up and through this action, admitted that Google has won the browser wars.
This is bad.
Thing is, management keeps killing everything that might've helped them get the upper hand again, so they can line their pockets instead.
They basically handed an entire programming language over to Amazon ffs.
So they've let the Google monopoly win because.. they wanted even more money? That is pretty foolish of them.
leadership at American "non-profits" is sadly often not any smarter than any other corporation.
I have unfortunate news about where many of Mozilla's current executives come from + where many former Mozilla executives went after leaving Mozilla
Yeah, that's absolutely normal executive mobility in the tech industry. Just, you know. It's normal but I don't have to feel good about it.
I wonder how that ties to the recent CPO suing them for discrimination and having been prevented from becoming CEO. It's hard not to see one heading to the other
Are there any decent non-Chromium alternatives?
Windows compatibility is a nice-to-have, I'm trying to move away from that as well.
I'm so fucking tired. I just want to stop having to switch internet browsers again and again.
Is Iceweasel still actively maintained? I used to hear about it a lot, but that was ages ago... and also I can't keep straight what happened with it vs. IceCat.
Also I've been hearing good things about LibreWolf. I still need to try it myself.
Debian abandoned it in 2017 and switched back to regular Firefox. Meaning the logo and name are theoretically available for someone else to pick up!
