Hey y'all, if we absolutely need to, I might have a solution. I'm currently in some web design classes and I've been meaning to make a website. I haven't done a whole lot of research on it, but I can't imagine installing a forum is outside of my abilities. And I think hosting a few dozen degenerates is within my budget. Just need a month or two.

Also, if anyone has web host recommendations, I'd love to hear them.

Increasing frustration with the enshittification of Netflix inspired me to set up a Jellyfin server last year. I picked up a blu-ray drive and am slowly working through my current DVD collection, my library's DVD collection and whatever I can scrape up on eBay, burning everything in my path. I had a Raspberry Pi 3 lying around from a previous school project, and it worked well enough.

Yesterday I grabbed a Raspberry Pi 5 to replace my RP3. The RP3 struggled with my vast, uh, photo collection, occasionally, which would crash the service and necessitate a restart. It was also, for whatever reason, completely incapable of streaming The Simpsons to a chromecast, despite it being ripped just like any other show. But the RP5 has been working admirably so far, even though it's currently working on wi-fi; I need to grab another ethernet cable and figure out how to squeeze the power adapter into an already crowded power strip.

The RP3 will continue on as an Adguard server, and maybe some other lightweight services, if I happen to find some; eventually I'd like to learn some FOSS home automation services.

I'm backing up my Cblogs now. Almost all of my blogs revolve around my art somehow; I don't think I ever really wrote something without having art or photographs going along with it. I realized that what I'll miss most are all the comments (already gone) to my PAX/MAGFest picture posts. Kind words from many people I'll likely never speak to again. I'm resorting to screenshotting all of the avatars of the people who came.

This sucks.
