like okay, I'm playing a Paladin as my PC, right? I have 3(!) separate resources I'm tracking (Channel Divinity charges, Spell Slots, and Lay On Hands charges). All of these abilities range in effectiveness of healing 8 HP, getting a small buff on skill rolls, and literally the best damage ability in the entire game. Nearly all of them use a Full Action to use, so in combat they're competing for space with moving close to your enemy, and basic attacks.
like I'm a level four character and I need to keep track of, like, hundreds of words of text for all these little shitty spells just in case one becomes relevant? And these don't go away! these are supposed to be things I can use all the way up through 20! it's an absurd design decision in a game where nearly all of the tactical weight is put into DPS numbers and movement. like these even compete with really important combat abilities when you're outside of combat. why would I ever use a niche but helpful spell, when I could be using that spell slot in 10 minutes for a Divine Smite????
look at this bullshit and knowing things like the Fighter got gutted in 5e (sorry, when your big turn each short rest is "attack three times", you're a bad class) makes me feel some sorta way about playing this video game
