Twenty years ago today, Metallica released this masterpiece of an album.
You can celebrate the big day by going out and banging on some steel chairs and/or aluminum trash cans, tuning your guitar way the heck down, and laying down all your vocals in one take!
Or you could just listen to the album I suppose.
(NOTE: Musically, I unironically like this album and think it's not only not the worst album ever made, but it's better than probably 2-3 albums just by Metallica alone. Production-wise, yeah, okay, Bob Rock should've told Lars Ulrich "Yes that's cute. Now put away the steel chairs and aluminum trash cans and take out your big boy drum kit so we can record this album, please!". But what's done is done there, and I find it amusing the snare drum has an actual discernible melody line at the start of the title track.)
EDIT DAYS AFTER THE FACT: Corrected a typo which actually completely changed the meaning of what I wrote.
"you know, [...] i've heard people defend all sorts of things generally considered bad media, but i think you're the only st anger apologist i've ever met
congrats?"
"is st. anger like. a notable album in metallica's career"
(Paraphrased) "What a weirdly specific thing to celebrate! Why are we all talking about this?! This is like opening up an alternate universe into discourse I never knew existed!"
Oh man, 'is st. anger like. a notable album in metallica's career' tell them, TELL THEM
