I think fantasy swears almost universally come off as condescending bowdlerizations, but "great Greagor's gash" is truly incredible
I saw that and was like 'goddamn, mid, that goes hard'

The thing about fantasy cursing, and ESPECIALLY blasphemies, is that on top of having good cadence, I have to be able to believe that someone would actually be scandalized by hearing it. So "by the gods" is absolutely nothing, makes zero sense—meanwhile, I ALREADY think that one sounds nasty!
there's a VERY good one just dropped like a third of the way into Nettle & Bone that made me laugh hysterically and definitely fits both criteria
almost every swear lands better if they also say fuck in universe
I think that the main issue with fantasy cursing is that they tend to make it sound needlessly lyrical, I don't think I've ever seen a fantasy curse or swear that just hits hard like yelling "Fuck!" at the top of your lungs can.
100% it's why I love that XVI has characters say things like oh fuck-fuck-fuck-fuck-fuck, most realistic thing they've ever done lol
