let me out of this box!!

as just kind of a little brain wandering after reading @nirebryce's post, particularly the paragraph on simple things being on-ramps to actually learning code

cohost is doing exactly that for me. when I got here I knew like, a smidge of the html you could throw in a dA journal entry I guess, could never get the hang of css back then, was kinda scared of it. I was interested but also designed to have a deep fear of failure, funny when you consider that the worst thing I could have gotten into was a nonfunctional MySpace theme. most certainly I was never going to try to make a whole web site for myself. but at least I could insert links. that's pretty cool right, oh god tell me that's cool, please

but a cohost post isn't a whole website, and that's real nice, you know? you make only the part that you're interested in and then send it off. I can see other people making their css toys, and I can say "oh that's cool," and then when I look at my own posts I start to ask, can I maybe do some silly stuff too? not a lot right now, but generally yes! and honestly, it's only after making a couple cute little

and seeing posts advocating for creating your own website that I even considered trying out neocities. just getting my site to where it is now was a lot of research. more importantly though, it was a lot of fun seeing what I could do and I really hope to get some time to plug away again soon. check back in a year maybe

so I guess the whole point here is, this website is pretty cool for easing into this trickery, if you actually want to. thanks eggbug & co
