taking an entire class for learning to write an academic essay has really illuminated for me how the poster's philosophy of "if you've made multiple posts on a subject, I shouldn't be required to read all of them before I start talking to you like an authority," quite a classic as it is, is a truly unfortunate load of dogshit.
like, it was basically lesson zero: if you want to contribute meaningfully to a conversation, you need to know what has been said in the conversation before you arrived. otherwise, there's a high chance you're only saying something that's already been said/accepted as fact or something that's irrelevant. especially when you've already decided on what you think they probably said before, therefore you don't need to read!
and I mean, if that's what you're going for, sure. I say things that are painfully obvious or tenuous if I think it'll be funny, I can't judge you. but if you want to contribute something meaningful, and do so with authority, it does actually take work. you gotta read
