YIPPEE new game is out!! spent about 5 weeks cranking this one out as a prototype for my senior thesis and then an additional month or so just focusing on the UI/UX. had a ton of fun with this one! planning to continue developing this one for my thesis next year with my group which i'm super excited about! definitely the biggest game i've made yet and i'm really happy with how it turned out

learned a TON about game UI and feel much more confident about that going forwards now which is great!! card games fun

now that i have awoken from the dead...... BEHOLD MY GGJ 2024 ENTRY!! it's a "rhythm"-based minigame (not really about musical rhythm but more about responding as FAST AS POSSIBLE to a visual prompt paired with some music-based sound design) about sucking at being a comedian! awarded most honktastic game at my game site! it's pretty mechanically simple but that gave me the chance to focus on visual polishing it a little bit more wrt game feel and getting to do some funky stuff with the sound design

made in collaboration with my friend jasper--i handled game design, sound design, and programming, whereas jasper handled all of the art 👍

me when i. when the. when

funky little guy is now rigged... gonna crank out some animations over the next few days, which SHOULD just need to be the following:

  • step forward (left foot)
  • step forward (right foot)
  • step backward (left foot)
  • step forward (right foot)
  • jump
  • maybe landing and turning (though i think turning would be hard because he doesn't turn very fast) if i'm feeling ambitious. i don't know if i'm feeling ambitious

coding-wise at this point the movement system is fully done, so i just need to implement the points system which will be SUPER easy, and then otherwise it's just modeling out all the shit he's gonna destroy (should also be easy bc it's gonna be itty-bitty low poly) and level design! think the goal is to get this turned in for game off 2023, which works since i started it this month and it also basically fits the theme more or less lol. my roommate and i are also gonna crank something out for 1-bit jam this month so that satisfies my loose goal of a short game every two weeks-ish for this month

haven't rigged/animated since last semester but feeling very much like a gamedev generalist right now lol
