To encourage the avoidance of doing the same thing day after day organisations could run tiny startups. This would be where current employees would volunteer to do a startup inside the company for a time period. They would get their normal salary and the chance at a prize.
They would have to pick an improvement that could be made to the software or organisation and they would have to develop a proof of concept. If the PoC was judged to be a success they would get the prize and further work on their concept would be done.
