If you're old like me, you probably grew up with libraries being these boring places full of stuffy books for old people. Sure, they'd have a "Kids Corner" and perhaps a Windows 98 machine connected to The Internet, but you wouldn't go to the library for fun, you know?
But this stereotype hasn't been true for a long time, and I finally went to check for myself this week. My local library doesn't just have books; it has a café, a maker space, meeting rooms, and a freaking rentable cinema room.
As a result, the library was packed with people: high school and college students looking for a quiet place to study, people having business meetings, and people just looking for a place to shelter from the rain.
What an excellent Third Place in my community. 😊
P.S. I was reading An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green, which is quite good. I read 60 pages in one sitting. 😅
