this post has some explanation. here are current Nitter instance statuses. about half are now non-functional.
i used Nitter.net (which i now learn was just one instance of the larger project) when i wanted to make a tweet and/or its subsequent replies readable for people without Twitter accounts; over the past six months Twitter has made its site all but impossible to view without a login.
is there any other way to make Twitter threads easily viewable to everyone? i tried putting a tweet in archive.is, but it only captured the limited view a non-logged user would see.

As far as I know there's https://www.sotwe.com/, a for-profit website with ads. And you can't even view replies, so I'm not sure how useful it is.

It's been two days and there's no news. Nitter has died a couple of times since Elon took over Twitter, and it somehow managed to find a workaround everytime, but this time it looks like this finally dead for real.
With how bad the bot detection is, I feel like they can just switch to a pool of bot accounts. But that would probably turn into an exhausting cat-and-mouse game. The owner is probably quitting because they're already tired of dancing in the palms of Elon's hands.
