it's a text editor. you edit with text, you don't have to use your mouse to move the blocks, and you know exactly what's there. it's a text editor for developers, the kind of people who's the most obsessed with productive text editing. if you already code with vscode, you're already familiar with the shortcuts.
it's sad that people barely bring up vscode as an option. non-developers probably find it too complex, especially since you're DIYing your own note taking app with third party extensions.
I (and the developers of the Foam extension) see the DIY aspect as a strength. there are like 4 alternatives to Foam alone, with Foam being the most complex and the rest more minimalistic. the variety and amount of extensions is nowhere near Obsidian though.
