i saw this in the spotify Hyperpop playlist so i expected it to not actually be hyperpop (like most songs we call "hyperpop" nowdays), but it is actually hyperpop - as in, charli xcx + ag cook hyperpop.
i know nothing about Camila Cabello but the idea of her becoming a chali xcx ripoff is wild. especially when hyperpop is already kinda dead.
of course, everyone hated it. the people who has never heard of hyperpop thinks it's too experimental and weird. the people who knows what hyperpop is thinks it's just chali xcx but worse. it's a lose-lose scenario.
personally? i don't hate it as much as them. it has good qualities but i won't listen to it on my own will. a lot of it feels awkward because mixing Camila Cabello with hyperpop is like trying to mix oil and water. the "i luv it i luv it i luv it" part is terrible and ruins the song. i think the rest is fine.
imo the best thing that came out of this is anthony fantano's describing playboi carti's vocals. "huuur herlolololo" "goofy minecraft villager rapping".
