i do occasionally feel the little voice creep in to say "you should draw for social media purposes" which i think is motivated by different things than number go up.....so i really dont know whether i should discard the thourght or not

prevulously the urge has been, "i want to be known as a specific type of fanartist thatd be cool." like yknow when you see like a fanart on your dash and you go "oh i love this persons [thing] fanart i see it occasionally!" i wanna be that. is that unhealthy? hard 22 say!

currentively, the urge is "i want to draw stuff for things specifically so i can find friends with the same interest." i want to accrue people who are fans of [thing] so i dont have to talk on deaf ears! and is drawing to try and make friends unhealthy. i mean probably not right. but as a "person with a moderately high amount of tumblr followers" that process does kind of look like "draw til you get followers, and maybe someone will rise to the top of the followers pile and become friend material." so ?? resultce inconclusive

i dont think there is necessarily anything wrong with wanting to meet people and be recognized for the things you do as long as you are ultimately doing things for yourself and doing things that you are happy with and that make you happy.

idk it's like complex and i cannot pretend that being on tumblr and twitter for 14 years hasnt rotted my brain past a certain point of no return so it's just kind of how i live. and sometimes i am definitely in that "maybe the next number go up will fix me" mindset. but i dont think it is bad to draw things that you want people to like you for.
