feel like someone might know about this here: is a hard drive getting bad SMART selftest errors <50h from new like a one in a million kind of a thing or more common than that? a drive i just set up in a raid1 array seems like it basically immediately died and i assume i couldn't have done anything myself to brick it

(as far as i know it's not rebadged secondhand or anything and should still be in warranty so i'm going to try to return/replace it, i just want to have some idea of how unlucky i got to get an effectively DOA drive. it's a WD purple drive that probably isn't SMR from looking up the serial)
