modern molecular biology sucks because only the fly people get to have any fun naming anything. if you discover a four member family of proteins in humans they have to be named five letter acronyms that don’t stand for anything but the exact same genes in flies will be named after the teenage mutant ninja turtles and the receptor will be called Splinter. it isn’t fair
